Q. How long have you been with the City of Columbia and what do you do?

PB. I have been employed in Wastewater Maintenance for 24 years. I’m the Safety and Training Coordinator. My job responsibilities are to ensure all 95 employees are trained in safety procedures for the division, such as CPR and First Aid. I also handle new employee training for the division and certification training, like CDL training, defensive driving, and whatever else is required.

Q. What is the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work bio?

PB. When I have the time, I love to grill and bake. I also do some catering in my spare time.

Q. What’s the best experience you’ve had working for the City of Columbia?

PB. I have so many, I’ve worked with some great people over the years, and learning skills for my job from them has been one of my best experiences.

Q. Dancing or singing, and why?

PB. Singing. I dance worse than I sing.

Q. How long have you been with the City of Columbia and what do you do?

SS. Since September 2012. I manage the Wastewater Compliance Section for the City of Columbia. The section includes the Industrial Pretreatment Program, Fats, Oils, and Grease Program, all regulatory permit compliance, sanitary sewer reporting, and various other programs.

Q. What is the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your work bio?

SS. I enjoy working on cars. When I was a senior in high school, I bought an old Jeep and restored it. I still have that Jeep today and I enjoy driving my girls around in it on the weekends. My wife calls it my big toy.

Q. What’s the best experience you’ve had working for the City of Columbia?

SS. I could not simply choose one experience. Since I have been with the City it has been eye opening to work with this group of people and witness their ability to successfully meet challenges without hesitation.

Q. Early bird or night owl, and why?

SS. Early bird. Especially when you have something exciting to do the next day.
