A Program Of The

City Of Columbia

Covering Bush River and much of the Irmo area, the Saluda River basin is undergoing several sewer evaluations and pump station upgrades to reduce sanitary sewer overflows and increase capacity.

The Saluda River Pump Station recently had its storage capacity expanded to approximately 10 million gallons to collect wastewater during periods of high demand. When demand decreases, the stored wastewater is released into the collection system and the operation process returns to normal. Equipment and force main at the pump station were also upgraded to increase efficiency and reliability.
